How to choose your service:

We offer three services. It can be tricky to choose what’s best for your needs! Feel free to call us to chat: 0493 878 408.

Support for your mental health or disability: If you’re looking for treatment for a mental health condition or support around your disability needs, please explore our Psychology or Equine-assisted Therapy offerings. Both incorporate horse and nature-connection activities.

Seeking an experience with horses as a supplement to your mental health treatment: If you already see a mental health practitioner and desire an experiential, horse-based activity to supplement your current therapeutic goals, please explore Equine-assisted Learning.

Comprehensive support: Many of our clients enroll in both Psychology and Equine-assisted Learning (EAL). This is a great option) for people who want to support their mental health needs with a qualified psychologist while also acheiving their therapeutic goals with the horses in our experiential, embodied EAL sessions. This is also a great option for children. The psychologist can work with the child (on topics such as anxiety management), develop a treatment plan, as well as support her parents or caregivers with behavioural management strategies at home. The EAL facilitator can work with the child based on her therapeutic goals developed by the psychologist. The two practitioners can share information, support her goals, and provide valuable feedback to one another.

NDIS participants: If you would like to use your NDIS funding, start by looking at your funding options. If you have Capacity Building funds, you can use these to fund our Psychology or Equine-assisted Therapy offerings. If you have Core Supports funding, you can use this to support Equine-assisted Learning (EAL) sessions. If you have both, you can enrol in both Psychology and EAL sessions.

Medicare: If you would like to receive a Medicare rebate, you must book in a Psychology session. Visit your GP and ask for a ‘Mental Health Treatment Plan’. If your GP recommends psychology sessions, ask them to direct the referral to us. They can email the referral to our clinic at: info@byronbayequinetherapy.com.au, and include any of the psychologists listed on our website here.
